Paul is a solicitor and consultant with the firm specialising in commercial contracts and IP. He has over 25 years’ practical legal and operational experience gained at leading law firms and fast paced marketing and talent agencies including; ISL Worldwide, Octagon/Interpublic Group, IMG and Progressive Sports.
With a deep commercial understanding of the Sports, Media, Marketing and Events sectors in particular, Paul has worked on an array of innovative and often complex IP rich deals involving rights owners such as; the British Olympic Association, the British Paralymic Association, the FA, FIFA, UEFA, ATP, IAAF, British & Irish Lions, Premiership Rugby, England & Wales Cricket Board, Cricket Australia and IPL, among many others; and has worked on national and global sponsorship deals and brand activations for brands such as Barclays, Mastercard, BlackRock, Invesco Perpetual, Zurich, McVitie’s, Toyota, Npower, Sainsbury’s and Tesco.
Paul has performed the role of gamekeeper and poacher by acting for both rights owners (protecting and maximising the value of their IP and commerical rights around content, events, brands and fame); as well as for licensees (looking to acquire and leverage those commercial and IP rights for their own marketing and business objectives).
Paul advises in-house counsel, entrepreneurs, trustees, personalities and boards of directors,bringing his strong commercial judgement and pragmatic approach to helping a diverse range of businesses, from start ups to global players, achieve their commercial objectives.
